Three green concepts from Chrysler

22 January 2008

Chrysler has unveiled three brand new concept vehicles – each featuring a different advanced alternative fuel system.

Unveiled at the Detroit motorshow, the Chrysler ecoVoyager, Jeep Renegade and Dodge ZEO take advantage of the best new technologies and couple them with the room, comfort, speed and style customers want from their family vehicle.

Chrysler UK managing director, Simon Elliott, is reported as saying that providing exceptional fuel economy and reducing emissions is part of the company’s environmental commitment.

He said these three new designs show that Chrysler is moving all of its brands forward with a green agenda.

The Chrysler ecoVoyager is a four-door, four-passenger concept. Its front wheels are driven by an electric motor, with power primarily supplied by a lithium-ion battery pack capable of satisfying a consumer’s typical daily commute of less than 40 miles.

Meanwhile the Jeep Renegade concept is a sporty, minimalist two-seater that uses an advanced propulsion system with a 40-mile range lithium-ion battery pack and a 1.5-litre BLUETEC diesel engine which allows for journeys up to 400 miles.

Finally, the 2008 Dodge ZEO (Zero Emissions Operation) concept is a four-passenger, all-electric, 2+2 sport wagon that embraces the bold, emotional characteristic of the Dodge brand.
