Green award for 4x4 manufacturer

A major manufacturer of 4x4 vehicles has scooped a prestigious green award.
Jeep has been ranked ahead of all other manufacturers of 4x4s and SUVs by winning the Gold Award in a leading green awards scheme.
As well as being presented with the top accolade in the 2007 Green 4x4 Awards for the significant fuel economy improvements made in its range of diesel-powered 4x4s, Jeep also received praise for the environmental credentials of its Jeep Wrangler.
Commenting on the award - which was announced in 4x4 & MPV Driver magazine - Chrysler Group UK managing director, Peter Lambert, said that the company had made significant strides in offering its customers ever-improving fuel economy by adding modern, efficient diesel engines to all of its Jeep vehicles.
In awarding the gold prize to Jeep, the magazine said that the company had completely turned around its models’ fuel consumption.
The publication went on to praise the Jeep Compass and Jeep Patriot for having lower CO2 emissions than several smaller vehicles such as the BMW 116i and Renault Clio 1.6.
The Jeep Wrangler was also praised for showing that there is more to the environmental debate than just emissions with the Wranglers being cheap and simple to make.
