The greenest cars in the UK have been unveiled and the Honda Civic Hybrid took the plaudits at the Environmental Transport Association’s (ETA) Car Buyers’ Guide awards.
The Honda won the small family car category as well as being crowned the overall winner.Vauxhall’s Corsa 1.3 CDTi was judged runner up as well as being crowned best supermini. Toyota’s RAV4 5 door diesel manual scooped the greenest off-road vehicle and the Jaguar XJ 2.7 diesel auto won the luxury car category for the second time.
ETA director, Andrew Davis, said an increasing numbers of people want to make informed choices about cars and it is not surprising that the winner this year the Honda Civic.
As well as celebrating the greenest cars, the awards also named and shamed the worst offenders in terms of damage to the environment. It was a bad night for with Lamborghini after the Diablo Roadster was judged the worst car for the third year running. The Murcielago Roadster made it a dubious one-two for Lamborghini as it was voted the second worst offender.
