Audi - A3 and A3 Sportback Euro NCAP - 4 STAR
Built with the quality design and materials you'd expect from Audi, the A3 combines the muscularity of a sports car with the practicality of a hatchback.
The 3 door A3 and the 5 door A3 Sportback are available in up to ten different configurations of engine and gearboxes, including 5 and 6 speed manual, 6 speed tiptronic and the new 6 speed DSG Transmission. The large range of models start with the
1.6 special edition and go all the way up to the top of the range 3.2 v6 Quattro S Line. All the Audi A3 models, including the diesel variants, comply with the EU IV emission standard.
The revolutionary FSI engine uses direct injection technology to deliver low CO2 emissions and good fuel economy. Dependant on acceleration, it can either distribute maximum power or efficiently use less fuel and cut emissions. The 1.9 (available in the Special,
standard and SE editions) offers a low 129 co2 emission. level, whilst the 1.9 TDI produces an exceptional consumption (extra urban) of 62.8 mpg.
With most petrol cars being rated in the C to F range on the new VED Banding scale the A3 1.6 FSI models with a D rating is right at the forefront of green motoring technology for cars of this size and performance. The 1.9 TDI even goes a step greener with an impressive C rating.
Among the features fitted as standard are electric front windows, ABS, alloy wheels, engine immobiliser and anti-theft system, driver and passenger-airbags - front and side - to name but a few. Even the 1.6 comes with a good specification level, including manual air con and single CD player.
All models come with a 3 year 60000 mile, 3 year paint,
12 year perforation and 3 year breakdown manufacturers warranty
About the manufacturer
Audi has been recognized by the European Union for outstanding environmental protection, based on its long tradition of minimizing and reusing waste.
Closed water and waste cycles, the use of water soluble paints and the recovery of heat energy have all helped to considerably reduce the environmental impact at all Audi sites.
The TDI models developed by Audi emit between 20 and 25 percent less CO2 than conventional petrol cars with manifold injection. Their FSI engines are more efficient, have higher torque and use a lot less fuel particularly when a vehicle is driven in an
environmentally considerate way.
Audi is streets ahead of its international competitors in the use of light metal and has already received around 40 awards for the designs of its A2 and A8 aluminium bodies. The company has been carrying out research into vehicle bodies made completely from aluminium as a lightweight construction material for about 20 years.
Since 1988, in accordance with a decision by the board of directors, every new Audi model must be produced from materials confirmed as recyclable.
